You can find some of the whitest sand in the world in Australia. Australia is home to some of the world’s whitest sand, with Hyams Beach in NSW and Lucky Bay in WA among the top contenders. Queensland’s Whitehaven Beach and Lake McKenzie on K'gari (Fraser Island) also feature stunning, silica-rich sand, around 98% pure. While beautiful to the eye and touch, scientists are still unsure how such pure silica formed in these areas.
